Want a quick way to boost energy, lose weight, improve your memory and feel amazing?
Go to bed.
Yes, really. Sleep is one of the most powerful, and most neglected, health hacks we have. And yet we treat it like a luxury, not a necessity.
And yes, this is painful to write at 4am having been woken by the dog and up in the night looking after a toddler, but I thought it would be beneficial nonetheless.
If you’re surviving on five or six hours a night, running on caffeine and willpower – your body is in survival mode, not healing mode.
During deep sleep, your body detoxifies, repairs muscles, balances hormones, and strengthens your immune system. You literally heal overnight.
So here are a few simple tips on how to get better sleep:
Your body loves rhythm. A regular sleep schedule helps you fall asleep faster and wake up feeling better.
Blue light from phones and TVs tricks your brain into thinking it’s daytime. Switch off at least 60 minutes before bed.
Make your bedroom a sleep haven. Blackout curtains, no blinking lights, and a cool temperature all help.
Chiropractic care helps regulate your nervous system – which controls your sleep cycles. Many patients sleep better after an adjustment.
Sleep isn’t lazy. It’s vital. Don’t wear exhaustion like a badge of honour. Rest, recover, and let your body do its thing.
With love,
Tom
