Autumn is a beautiful season, but let’s be honest, it can also feel overwhelming. School runs in the dark, busy work schedules, shorter days, and endless to-do lists all add up. Stress isn’t just in your head, it shows up in your body.
Your nervous system is designed to handle stress, but it has two gears: fight-or-flight (survival mode) and rest-and-digest (healing mode). When you’re constantly rushing, your body spends too much time stuck in survival mode. That can affect sleep, digestion, energy, and even mood.
Remember your HRV test? The wave graph that is meant to be smooth and calm, was yours?
It is not about reducing your stress, or ‘stress less’ solutions. The only way your body can cope is to ‘adapt’ to the stress. Your nervous system, which sits in your skull and spine, is the part of you that can adapt to stress and keep you well.
The issue is, if there is a problem in the skull or brain, this will not help, instead of there being ease in your nervous system, there will be more stress and tension.
Chiropractic helps by reducing tension in the spine and skull, which can calm your nervous system and allow it to shift gears more easily.
This October, don’t just soldier on. Pay attention to the signals your body is sending. Stress is part of life, but with the right support, you can move through the season feeling more balanced and in control.
Remember chiropractic isn’t about the bones in your back, or pain. It is about the health and wellbeing of your nervous system. Essentially it is all about keeping you healthy and well.
With love,
Tom
P.S. This is why so many of you choose to continue your adjustments for years, beyond the pain going, and even if the pain is still there. To keep you as healthy and well as possible.
