For breakfast we are told to eat cereal, which is usually wheat, with a bit of cows milk and sugar on top, but is that a great way to start your day? In this blog I’m going to share more and some of the information may come as a bit of a surprise.
If I asked you what the most addictive things in the world are, you may tell me things like smoking, drugs, and alcohol, however what if I told you the biggest addiction is to sugar?
Sugar is extremely addictive and one of the leading causes of heart disease amongst other health conditions, including cancer. The majority of sugar we eat today is factory processed and put in most of our foods, even ones you think it shouldn’t be in, simply to make that food more addictive. A better way to quench that desire for some sugary treats is to simply have some fruit with natural sugars in them.
Dairy is an interesting topic. The milk we are designed to drink comes from a human female when we are a baby, which helps us grow and give us all the nutrients we require when young. Now let’s look at cows milk. Milk from a cow is designed to fatten a baby calf into a fully grown cow in a matter of a few months, and therefore is full of nutrients designed for a baby calf, not a human being.
Gluten can be found in many shop bought foods such as cereals, pizza, bread and pastries. However, if you’re anything like me you’ll notice you get bloated after eating this sort of meal and end up with a poorly tummy. This is because we are not designed to eat these foods, and often our bodies reject them which is why we can get unpleasant symptoms. Sadly, because they’re addictive, we eat them over and over again!
So here are some key points to note:
Here are some things you can try instead:
So, let’s go back to the start about breakfast. Unfortunately, the traditional cereal with milk doesn’t provide the best start to your day, but as I’ve discussed above, there are ways it can easily be adapted, or how about trying something different like eggs or making a fresh smoothie?
With love,
