How to Reduce Overwhelm and Accelerate Your Health Journey

Are you feeling overwhelmed and anxious about starting a new health regime or achieving a challenging goal? It’s natural to doubt your ability to succeed when moving into new territory, but sometimes these feelings can prevent you from getting started in the first place.

I don’t want these worries holding you back as myself and the team would love for you to achieve your health goals, so whether you’re seeking to overcome chronic back pain with chiropractic care and rehab, or signing up for a local event, I have some tips this week to help you reduce the overwhelm and accelerate your progress:

1. Start small
It can be tempting to set multiple goals or put a timeframe on there that sounds good on paper but in reality, is not realistic. Make your goals achievable and be realistic with the steps that are required to get you there.

2. Make it clear
If you set yourself a specific goal and identify what habits you need to start to get you there, it makes it easier for you to measure. For example, if you want to eliminate your back pain by your August holiday, attending your chiropractic visits, factoring in a walk for 30 minutes, and drinking eight glasses of water daily may be the habits you need to adopt.

3. Make a plan
Once you have your goal and habits to get you there, break them down further so you have a daily plan. Using the example above, this could look like blocking out time in your diary for your appointments, setting the alarm for when you need to go for a walk and having your trainers at the door, and investing in a water bottle that you keep by your side.

4. Create accountability
If you feel supported in your journey, you are more likely to achieve your goals, which is why we recommend sharing your goals with those around you. Having others cheering you along the way can help keep you motivated and pick you up during tough times. Don’t forget; we can help to create accountability too! We would love to hear about your health goals and support you!

5. Enjoy the process
Celebrating the small milestones by tracking your progress rather than fixating on the end goal will help you find joy in the process. It would be unrealistic to think that it’s always going to be plain sailing. There will be times when you want to quit or when challenges arise, but in these moments, you will look back and realise how far you have come.

I hope these tips help to reduce any feelings of overwhelm and anxiety as you embark on your health journey. As you set your goals this Summer, take the time to reflect on what you truly want to achieve and create a plan to get there. Remember to celebrate your progress along the way, which will help you enjoy the journey!

We would love to hear about your health goals, so be sure to share them with us at your next chiropractic visit. We are here to support you every step of the way.

With love,

Sarah and Team Epoch
