Hydration – here we go again.

Water. It’s not exciting, it’s not complicated – but it is absolutely essential.

Your body is around 60% water. Every cell, every organ, every system relies on it. So when you’re even slightly dehydrated, it can dramatically affect your health – think brain fog, joint stiffness, low energy, headaches, and even back pain.

Most people don’t realise they’re dehydrated until they feel rubbish. And by then, your body’s been shouting at you for a while.

Here are some key things to note:

  • You should be drinking about 1.5 to 2 litres of water a day – more if you’re active, or it’s warm out.
  • Tea and coffee don’t count. They’re diuretics. Same goes for alcohol.
  • Thirst is a late warning sign. If you’re thirsty, you’re already behind.

Top tips?

1. Start your day with water.

Before your coffee, down a big glass. You’ve just gone 8 hours without.

2. Carry a bottle.

Make it easy for yourself. Keep it on your desk, in your bag, or in the car. Sip at this all day.

3. Flavour it.

If plain water bores you, add lemon, cucumber, or mint.

Hydration isn’t optional. It’s the base layer of all health. Drink up – your body will thank you.

With love,

Tom
