Man Up

So, I’m talking to you, yes you! The man who really doesn’t want to read this kind of stuff, the man whose partner has shoved this blog in front of them, and you, the man who know he should and wants to learn something more.

How many times have you been told over the years to ‘man-up’, to ‘grow some balls’ or ‘quit acting like such a girl’. How many times have you told yourself this, for that matter?

You see the reason I catch your attention with this, is that with such an alpha mindset and a go-go-go attitude, while it may be great for productivity, beating the competition or winning in the workplace and sporting field.
What it is actually doing is driving your physiology towards heart disease and/or cancer!

There is indeed time and place to be the alpha male and show your masculine side, I would go as far as saying it is essential for good health. What I contend however, is the fact that a sustained ‘aggressive state’ drives cortisol and defense hormones high within your body. It increases inflammation and directly overrides your body’s ability to heal…

And here is the issue. Imagine if you will, getting into a fight. I mean a full-blown fist fight, no backing out and literally to the death. During this awful event, if you were to sustain an injury, a cut or a broken limb, would you roll over and admit defeat? No, I hear you say, of course not. You would keep fighting to the best of your ability, ignoring the injury until the event was over.

The same is true for your body’s physiology. If you are always on the go, never taking a rest and continuously pushing, you body will switch off it’s long term defenses and run on adrenaline. Now imagine if I was to put you on a treadmill and turn it up to full speed, how long could you run for before you inevitably fall off?
Not too long, you will eventually fall. This is what is happening in your body when you don’t take rest.

I can now hear you saying, ‘but I haven’t had a cough or cold in years’. Great I say, that’s the adrenaline keeping you going, but just like that treadmill you will fall off. But this time it might not be a simple cough or cold, it potentially could be very serious and even life limiting.

I’m sure you understand and I have no doubt you will have heard this all before.

So, my question to you is, when are you going to do something about it?
Not for you, for your family and loved ones.

And the great thing is, you don’t need to do a huge amount to make a big difference!

Stay tuned for the next blog where we will show you exactly what it is you can do!

But for now, take just 10mins out your day. ZERO distraction, silence and by yourself.
It may just save your life…
