“I just have to live with them.”
I hear this far too often, and for the most part it is not the case. At worst you should be able to manage headaches, so they have no ill effect on your daily activities. At best they should be a thing of the past.
The key to managing headaches isn’t just masking them but understanding where they come from.
Many headaches aren’t just in your head—they’re in your neck. Poor posture, stress, and even dehydration can create tension in the upper spine. This tension irritates nerves and blood flow, triggering headaches.
The most common headache we see here stems from the neck and with a few lifestyle adaptations can be easily managed.
Try this:
It feels weird, but it helps reset your posture and take pressure off your spine.
What are your triggers? For many it is simply dehydration. Many people with migraines aren’t drinking enough water. Aim for 2 litres a day and try adding foods rich in magnesium (like spinach and almonds) to your diet.
Ever get a headache after staring at your phone? That’s because staring down strains your neck. Try the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
I would love to know how these work for you.
With love,
Tom
