Stiffening up and slowing down is all part of aging, but should it be something we accept and ignore, or something we proactively look to do something about, and/or prevent?
You have been designed intelligently, perfectly created into the human being that you are. And part of the beautiful and intelligent design is your spine.
Being mobile as well as protective is a hard thing to do. 26 movable bones form a tube that protects the most important structure in your entire body, your spinal cord.
Without your spine, your spinal cord would be vulnerable to injury, without the movement of your spine, your body would remain rigid and immobile.
And deeper than that, this intelligence in you has designed the spinal cord and brain in such a way that the more your spine moves, the more messages are sent to the brain.
As the body moves, the brian grooves.
And what this really means is that the health and function of your brain is enhanced by the amount of movement in your spine. The better your spine moves, quite simply, the better your brain will function.
So if we just allow our spine to stiffen up (with or without age), what we are allowing to happen is a slowing down of information to the brian, a reduction in the function of our brain and central nervous system, and as such a global reduction in our health.
So what if your spine doesn’t move well… is not such a flippant statement after all.
One should preserve and maintain the motion in their spine as the number one property in their health. Greater than cleaning teeth or taking vitamin C.
So when did you last get your adjustments?
With love,
Tom
