Well done on committing to your health. Whether you are new to chiropractic or you’ve been an Epocher for years, it takes a lot to change.
But sometimes we hit that moment, that decision, that fork in the road where we ask ourselves, “What’s the point?”
What is the point in improving your diet? What is the point in going out in the dark for a walk or jog? What is the point in traveling to Epoch for an adjustment?
I get it, especially as the nights draw in, our enthusiasm can wane, and our commitments can slip.
The reason for this is that we often base our decisions about health on how we will ‘feel’ immediately after the action. And let’s face it, jogging on a cold night isn’t as appealing as watching Netflix. Going to your adjustments may not seem as appealing as heading straight home.
However, we must remember that the outcomes of our actions are NOT instant, but this doesn’t take away their importance. The opposite is also true: the consequences of inaction—the choice to avoid healthy practices—are also delayed. Repeated nights in, missed adjustments, and skipped exercise will lead to pain and poor health weeks down the line.
So, this week is a simple reminder and motivator to think about your health actions and consider how you want to feel a few weeks from now. Make choices based on that, not just how you feel in the moment.
Let’s all commit to keeping up the habits, taking care of our bodies, and scheduling our adjustments, so we can enjoy a fit, healthy, and happy winter.
With love,
Tom
