It is the time of year where many decide to improve their health and rightly so, however, not long after the decision or initial commitment, doubt can creep in.
Doubt about whether we really are meant to be healthy, doubt that we can achieve the goal, doubt that we have the willpower to follow through on our commitment.
Trust me I have been there. But where does this come from? So much of it is down to our conditioning, how we were brought up and what we expected for ourselves. Or what others expected of us…
“You have little chance of becoming a footballer, its just a lucky few”.
“Don’t talk to strangers”.
“Money doesn’t make you happy”.
“Be careful, it will all end in disaster”.
All these seemingly simple sayings condition us to think we are not capable and if we do succeed that it isn’t really worth it.
Well, I am here to tell you the opposite. Having worked with thousands of patients for over a decade, I have seen miracles and dramatic life changes in health. From people walking out of their wheelchair, to severely anxious people taking control and gaining independence, couples who have struggled to conceive start a family, and even terminally diagnosed patients live for years.
All these amazing stories have one thing in common.
A change in belief.
A choice to see and do things differently. An understanding that they are capable of so much more, that they are meant to be healthy.
So how can you take some of this and implement it into your healthy routine?
“I am”.
The affirmation “I am” is so powerful to change our state and our being, to know that we are confident and capable. After all, the only person who will get you better, from anything, is you!
Try these self-affirming statements on a daily basis, for at least a month.
“I am healthy”.
“I am well”.
“I am healing”.
“I am a healthy person”.
“I am someone who makes healthy choices”.
Yes, I can see some of you eyes rolling. But I challenge you to try. First ask yourself, are you as healthy as you should be? As you deserve to be?
And the best part, no one needs to know you are doing it.
“How can we possibly fix a problem with the same thinking that got us there in the first place?”
I look forward to hearing how you do.
With love,
Tom
P.S. Do you want to hear a real story?
There was a boy who grew up very dyslexic, lacked any self-confidence, struggled at school. He was near the bottom of his class and got in trouble a fair bit. He was suspended and scored poorly.
He had a desire to be a chiropractor, but he failed to get the grades he needed due to his lack of confidence.
That boy had a wonderful chemistry teacher, who after hearing he failed, suggested to him that he call the university he wanted to go to and see if they would accept him. He built up the courage and they said yes.
This boy went on to change the story he told himself about not being confident, about not being clever, about not really being able to achieve anything.
He went on to excel, graduate as a chiropractor, own a practice, help thousands of patients, travel the world teaching and speaking about health and wellbeing.
You know who that boy is…
This stuff works.
“I am confident”.
“I am clever”.
“I am the one to help others”.
Let this be your Epoch.
